    Tails: Will this work?

So I'm planning on replacing my tail light gaskets (early model) due to the passenger side leaking. Moisture got into my housings and corroded the reflective material in the housing. when I pull the lights out, can I just scrape/sand off the corroded reflective material, and spray with silver metallic spray paint? I'm probably going to do this anyway, but I was just wondering if anyone has tried something like this before and been successful. If not, I'll put up a DIY.

Hmmm, I do tail light 'silver paint' restoration all the time, but don't early lights have a one-piece lens + reflector? How would you spray the reflectors without taking the lens off?

Just wondering how you make out, I'd love to follow your progress...
    Thanks

Just so I don't leave anyone hanging... You're right. Pulled them off (good opportunity to moisturize the gaskets with silicone spray and wax the cavities btw) and I thought there'd be an easy seam or something to pop off the lens and glue later. this isn't the case. so no restoration is possible.
      :(

Currently in the market for an early driver's side tail light.

I have plenty of driver's side (cracked), so I went to my local indy shop. They have several very nice lenses. He's asking $100 or whatever he can get; want me to make him an offer? I have a feeling he'll negotiate to make a sale... If I find one in the pick'n'pull yard, it will be less, but may not be quite so nice.

Shoot me an email or PM.

Found one, very nice condition! email sent.
Came across it while looking for a seven series, the lens was removed and stuck in the trunk. Let me know if you want it.
