Cabin lights refuse to turn off

    Weird Scenario Guys,

My interior cabin lights stay on when the car is turned off and all doors are closed while light is on "door mode"

Turn the car on, they turn off. Open any door while the car is turned on, the switches for each door work correctly (i.e. driver door open/only driver door cabin light illuminated) so I know the switches are working correctly.

Has anyone ever seen this behavior? Weird stuff. Just started happening yesterday....

A few things there sound odd. There's a timer relay that keeps the interior lights on for a few seconds when you shut the door then shuts them off; is that what happens with the key on? I've never heard of a car where only the light on the open door's side turns on with the door open; have you pulled the lights out of the head liner to see if anything was messed with up there?

Where is that timer relay located?

Yeah, when the car is turned ON and a door is opened- it only illuminates that door that is opened. When the car is turned OFF, normally both will illuminate, open door, close door and illuminate for 5 seconds then off. But now they just stay on.

And honestly, this might have to do with this POS Python 1990's alarm system. I just noticed now that for some reason it has been giving me two beeps instead of one when locking it. I can't seem to find what that means- there is no model number on the internals. I wish I had the guts to rip it out...but its tied into so much under the wheel.

It's under the drivers side speaker. Found this thread> http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87927

Ugh, this really pisses me off- what the heck did the PO slice and dice into here?! This is right by the drivers side speaker. I hope I'm not opening up a can of worms digging into this. Where the heck do I even start to get the wiring layout?

Yiiikes. Someone chopped up all my front premium speaker wires, making it ugly for me to do the door tweeters, so I know how you feel. As far as wiring diagrams, start here: http://shark.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/BMW/e30/
