I painted these a few months back, and Andrew and I just clearcoated these on Saturday, using automotive grade clearcoat. We did about 5-6 coats, the first few came out pretty orange-peeled, but after we let the can soak in hot water, the last few coats evened out A LOT more. They're still kinda orange-peeled, but we're going to hit them with a good polish with some cutting compound, and they should smooth right out. It's automotive grade clearcoat, so it should take to a cut & polish just fine. Paint used was Testors Transparent Candy Apple Red, and it was a perfect match.

Thanks, Hatch. I'm very pleased with them, and with the generous clearcoat coverage they should be able to withstand quite a bit, and stay looking great.
I've seen so many that people have done, and they've had to do them over and over again because they either don't clearcoat them, or they use model clearcoat. This paint isn't meant to withstand weather and sunlight, so you have to get proper clearcoat on them to seal the paint.Comment
