    Third brake pigtail

Morning! I have an 89 325i vert and the third brake light is not working. I removed the light and there is a very short pigtail where the PO just twisted the wires together and electrical taped them. I want to crimp them properly but don't want to pull the pigtail out without knowing what is inside.

The picture of a new tailight has about a 2 foot pigtail.

    My question is this.

If I disconnect the current setup will there be a connection somewhere in the raceway of the trunk or will I have to make my own? the current wires will be stretching the limits to work with a crimp.

    Thanks!

The wiring goes across the rear parcel shelf and under the rear seat. I'd start by pulling the rear seat and having a look.

Concerning "Verts" the third brake light plug is near the power antenna, there's a plastic wire cover/holder on the left trunk hinge arm.

Tie a string to the wire when you pull it out for repair or replacement, that way, it's easier to get it back in place.
