    Inherited Wiring/Lighting drama

So First and foremost, yes i have searched already. i have lerked, i have trolled R3V and havent really come up with anything that seems to specifically match my issues. who knows, maybe you're a search phenom and I am just not worthy:bow:. now, for the topic.

I recently just picked up a 91 318is. knowing it had a few "small" problems, i snagged it for what i felt was a good enough deal to bite; i feel 90% confident it was anyways. when purchased the lighting was as such: DEPO smiley headlights (with city light currently not wired) with DDM HID kit installed for lo beams, high beams still wired and connected but not socketed into lens due to not being H1 bulb types (needless to say im not using the currently).

driver side turn signal blinks incredibly rapidly, and also there is a fender side marker installed driver side only (dont ask me why just is currently).

now, when i have the lighting knob pulled back once, the lo's and all parking lights come on. pull back a second click and nothing changes (suppose to be that way?) high beams work off the stalk as they should just need to get H1 bulbs for the lens and figure out how to get them wired up.

when i have the headlights off, say during the day, i noticed that if i switch on my left turn signal, my lo beam will flash with the signal (either a couple times then stop or more continuously.)
the side markers on the bumper are not wired up currently, im awaiting new sockets and wiring from bavauto. i also have some stealthauto turn signal assemblies to install and wire up since the stock ones are tired out (stealthauto asembly has 2 bulbs installed, 1 socketed dual filament, and 1 regular bulb??)

so needless to say i am ata bit of a stand still as to where i should possibly start off with this potential wiring nightmare. i feel like the rapid turn signal delima has something to do with the fender sidemarker, but i do not have much experience with BMW, and im not the most electrical savy person. i can wire a stereo just fine, but for the most part i know electricity=zap... any insight would be greatly appreciated gents. someone just referred me to M42.com so i'll swing by and check around there as well. thanks in advance

rapid turn signal happens when a bulb is out somewhere. since all your wiring is in a frenzy lets worry about this later.

when you pull it once only the parking lights are supposed to turn on. when you pull it twice the low beams are supposed to turn on. this sounds like your low beams are connected to your parking lights instead of the actual low beam wires.

this sounds like your low beams are connected to your turn signals which are part of the parking lights as stated above.

thanks for the gouge. i felt like there should of been a setting for the just parking lights on... i'll try and snag some pictures tomorrow when its light out for the wiring. like i stated i got new wiring harness and plugs for the turn signals front and sides, so hopefully i can remedy this

this i know. that was actually the first thing i checked for, as well i made sure the turn signals/parking light bulbs were dual filament. i did notice that the driver LF turn signal when illuminated was a bit dim
