Picture of Light switch on drivers door handle inside door or info?

So in running down a bunch of little gremlins like fixing my central locking, I figured out that the PO had disconnected the switch that, I believe, grounds out when the door handle is pulled up. Unfortunately not only did the PO take the switch, tape it up and tie it inside the door, but it looks like he also bent the handle it goes on out of the way? So I think I have an idea of how it is supposed to go but I am not sure. I can't find a photo of the way this is supposed to be anywhere? Can anyone post one or a part number? The diagram on Real OEM I am looking at doesn't show this piece or how it hooks up.

I did a workaround where my interior light works with the door open, but I would like to fix it back to stock or possibly get one of George's delays, if they are still available.

IIRC there is a micro switch in there that engages the double lock mode, in addition to the big central lock actuator that handles the regular lock/unlock function. But I don't know of any switch inside the door that has anything to do with lighting. Just the switch near the door hinge that does that.

There is a pic of the door lock from the inside on this site:

    Here's the pic:

The micro switch is the black box with wires coming out of it just left of the red arrow.

If you post pics of your issue it might help.

yes it is mounted at the end of the door handle farthest from the door lock. It is not a micro switch but a dry contact (the handle when pulled makes contact with a short piece of spring steel) that completes the circuit. It is rare to find a good one, but when it is working the interior light will turn on when the door handle is lifted.

so what is the point of this exactly? to have the lights go on a millisecond sooner than when the door is opened triggering the switch near the hinge?

If the door is locked, pulling the drivers door handle will turn on the inside light.
I guess to help you locate your key?
This photo shows how the contact is mounted inside the door.

Perfect, that is exactly what I am looking for, thank you!

Yeah, the point is just that it's there hanging out in my door and I want to fix it because I can. I am finding that most of the stuff in my car was disabled because the po just didn't have a clue and instead of fixing things , they just disconnected them. Plus when my wife drives it it would be nice for her to see what's going in in the car before opening it. She doesn't drive it much but when she does it's usually at night or to her work which is a parking garage.

Next tube I pull the door card I'll see what I can do. Looks to me like mine is fine but the way the arm was bent it didn't make contact and I wasn't sure how to set it. I didn't want to bend it back and break the damn arm.

So there are only two wires that lead to this? The PO cut the harness and there are two brown wires and one red. Where does the red one go?

The red isn't used. On the c503 connector.

Does it only turn on while you're holding the handle or does it activate the light timer and if you let go the lights will stay on then dim off?

My lights never dim, they just shut off when the door is closed, and I've never seen the door handle light them up, although I did have it apart and see a switch or two inside.
