These connect to my license plate lights. Both sides unplugged. Where do they go?

yeah side markers work, well the one that i do have. after following the wire it connnects straight to the license plate wires, just a positive and ground. have zero clue where it plugs though. oh well. who needs those lights anyways. its on a 85 318i, idk if it differs on early models.Comment

my light is dark?
Well, that may be your answer. Side marker was my guess too. Probably a brown (ground) and grey/red wire - pretty standard for side markers. I think left side tails, side markers and license plate are on the same fuse + wires.
Also a possiblity that it's an 'extra' - BMW wiring has provisions for things not included on every car, mine has one too- near the left tail. Another car had wiring and a switch for the rear defrost which wasn't included, made it really easy to add later.Andy says "Be Seen, and Not Hurt!"
