    Pre facelift fog light harness

    Hi guys,

I'm a bit confused because I've seen pics of a few types of connectors for E30 fog lights... I have an 1986 325. Which connector is for the fog lights on this particular E30? I've read they are supposed to be a grey connector. I found two, but they are rectangular. Pictures of ones I've seen show a small round one that appears to have two terminals.

I've been trying to source the bumper mount fogs, but ordering from the states is a pain with the duties, etc.

I have been considering one of those "generic" fog light sets, but I'd have to wire it in somehow. Recommendations?

Sorry, trying to figure out which connectors are for the fog lights. I found some connectors behind the plastic head light shrouds. The only matching ones I found where two smaller grey connectors on both sides. They were strapped down just beneath the head lights.

If I go after market, I'm going to have to do some cutting and splicing and I want to make sure I hey the right ones.

There are a few types of fogs for the E30. The choices I think cause the confusion.

To my knowledge all E30s can accept fogs in one form or fashion. What kind of front end do you have? It is possible the connectors are wrong as you have the wrong lamps.

For diving boards, there is the type which mount from under the metal bumper.

These look similar to the fogs which fit into the ES/IS cow catcher. They are not the same.

Then I believe the aftermarket front air dams (eg, Kamei, Racing Dynamics) use the kind seen on the M3.

Then there is the later model which is more modern looking as compared to the rectangular designs previously mentioned.

So which front end are you trying to fit fogs?

It's an 86, so go the diving boards. Looking for the bumper mount type.

I have an 84 325E with Fog Lights mounted under the bumpers. The wiring is located just outboard of the shock mount for the bumpers. It is a round connector.

Another question - if I get a generic set, is it possible to get a proper connector, so I don't have to hack the car's wiring?
