    Hella Ellipsoids HID conversion issue

I picked up a set of Hella Ellipsoids recently with 9006 Sylvania bulbs and piggy backs, I also purchased a HID Kit for them. Now the issue at hand is that they don't ignite. The HID kit is 35w 5k bulb.

I've googled this problem and saw someone adjust the ground wires from harness and replace fuses 13-14 from 7.5amp to 10amp. I figured this would do the trick, but still no light..

I switched back to the 9006 bulbs on the e30 so I could try the HID Kit on my e36 since they share the same plug n play harness (I did this incase I was sold a defective kit). Once everything was plugged into the e36 I switched the lights to the on position and they lit up like the 4th of July!

In conclusion ellipsoids work with standard halogen 9006 bulbs not HID, what's going on here??

first of all go ahead and replace those fuses back to the stock ratings. any jump in the current draw will cause the wires to burn/catch on fire before the fuse is blown, thats why fuse ratings correlate directly to the type of wiring the car has. you want the fuse to blow before the wiring does.

since you have ruled out defective ballasts and bulbs your next step should be to test the wiring.

use a multimeter to test the wires when in the on position to see what the voltage is.

it is possible your wiring is not providing the minimum voltage needed to turn the HIDs on. let us know your results.
