Red tails - All done & installed

Finally got my red tails finished and installed. They took so long because I really took my time with them, and made them perfect. No half-assed paint job here, I went all-out. 4 coats of Transparent Candy Apple Red, 5 coats of automotive clearcoat, wetsanded with 1600 grit, polished about 4 times over with cutting compound, finsihed off with 3 coats of wax for a better-than-new finish. I can say with no ego that I'm pretty sure I've got the best looking set of DIY red tails around.

Please excuse the wavy/sandblasted rear shroud parts, I'm replacing them soon.

Anyway, the pics speak for themselves.

    Before...

    After...

Red tail are so friggin hot. Nice work man. Really nice work.

When I did a set half assed they blinked red, no orangy color, so yours should be too. Although I have been wrong a time or two ;)

                      Thanks, Sean.

Yes, the entire lens is clearcoated, wetsanded and buffed. It was the only way to get a 100% even finish.

Yes, your car is looking damn gorgeous! I wish my paint were that perfect. Damn roof is beginning to fade. :( *sigh*

You definately got me thinking of doing that. Just an automotive clear, eh? And testors candle apple red model spray paint?

Best part is...I have a spare set of taillights! :D

                        Hmmm hmmmmmmm lol

I'm in the middle of painting mine right now. Couple coats of testors transparent red and then a couple coats of clear. I painted ALL the red surface PLUS the turn signal and only masked off the white light and black area around the lights. I'm not doin the wetsanding/polishing/waxing though. I dont have enough time ;)

It's a Magnaflow, just welded on at the end. I'm probably cutting it off soon, and having it put on the 325i exhaust I'm getting.
