    e30 Headlights

This car had similar setup... and someone as hacked the wires.

    See jpg attached.

I get that 1a goes to 1b and BeyondDrivenAuto(BDA) have provided 1c as swap out harness

2a and 2b do not match up with my system.

I can use 1c part and the it would work as far as molex's go.

3b is my question... as the previsous owner did not have these hooked up to anywhere

I am assuming this harness is off a 95' M3... as the motor is.

what do you think 3? is

Also 3b is hook up to the new headlights but the wires within the car where not hooked up to anything

Need some pointing out of what direction to go

here's what you need to know about wiring:

1 - use whatever connectors you want
2 - headlights are really easy. There is a hot lead and a ground lead for each bulb. On each side you have three lights: low beam, high beam, and city light. Ground is always brown.

You can tap in to your old headlight wiring for the main beams and then use your parking lights for the city lights. There are wiring diagrams on the web which show you factory wire color codes. Or buy a haynes manual. Then it's up to you to match them and figure out how to splice them

You can make adapters using spade connectors on the pigtails so you dont have to splice the harness for at least the head lights. I believe you do need to splice the side marker harness for the city lights. Ill take some pics tmr if you want.

        E30 Headlight Help

        Thanks for the replies.
I thought when I bought from Beyond Auto... I was going to do double headlights on high beams... but never the less.

I will post more pics hopefully tonight.
There is a 2 wire coming out the top of the low beam... this was not hooked up on the original (aftermarket) setup.

        High beams work every-time.
the low beams do not work every-time....

I did exactly what you both typed... wire to wire...
        Pretty simple...
Only reason posted was because I was hoping for both to be on at the same time, as well as the wiring on the top of the low beam.

But now the low beams do not work as of this morning.
Time to break out the meter.

Relay Pack, BMW E30 Bi-Xenon Headlight Retrofit

Do I need a relay pack?
Seems like my voltage output on my low beam wire does not have enough current.

First off, find the wiring diagram for your car here:

The headlight wiring is part of the body harness and will be the factory installed harness that came in the car. Engine harness is completely separate.

1A and 1C look like they are your high and low beam power wires (not sure which is which, check the wire colors), but I can't tell if these are factory or not.

2A looks like it is for your fog lights.

3B is for the city light in the top of the low beam. Wire this to the running light in the bumper. Most guys use the side marker wiring, but you can also hook it to the wiring for the running light at the turn signal.

Assuming you have bi-xenon lights, 2B is for your high beam trigger in your low beam. There is a plate inside the light that cuts off the light when in low-beam mode and raises up out of the way for high beams.

3 does not look related to the headlights. Likely for an option you don't have.

You will also have wiring coming off the back of the high beam. Wire this and 2B together, then connect them to 1A or 1C, whichever is for high beams.

You want your low beams to stay on when your high beams come on? You have to jumper one of your relays. There's another thread on the board with the same question

                Update... bad ballast.
Beyond is sending one... should have today.

Next ? any thoughts on tracking down the wire input (not working) to the top of the bulb?
Going to start at fuse box... but looking for insight...
Just for verification when does that come on?

                Andrew... just saw post... thanks.
