I can dig. Im thinking about doing this to my rings as well...
What did you use to paint them? The finish doesnt look too great in the pics.
I scuffed them with a wire brush and then used black semi-gloss spray paint. The finish in the pictures looks crappy because they had JUST been fully painted and they were still a bit tacky. It looks way glossier in the pictures that they really are. I'll try to get some pictures of them installed soon. They look much better now.
I think they look good. I did the same thing last weekend. But I didnt stop with the headlight surrounds - repainted my IS lip, fog blanks and kidney grill surround.
Same basic procedure used a described in threads above but instead of using flat black spray paint I used rubberized truck bed spray paint. That rubberized stuff should hold up much better to rocks and other on track debris.
I may just have to do that in the future now. Think you can get a shot of the lights in the light? So, we can see how the lights work when you can see the grilles?
Turned out pretty nice! :D

I like it, I did it on my car a few years ago, I think it makes the front look a lot cleaner when they're all installed. Makes the headlights look smaller.
I need to repaint mine now though, they're getting some rock chips in them.
Here's a pic of my front with them painted. Pay no attention to the blue bulbs, they're not on there anymore...old pic...
I just saw that fart muffler in the other thread and now those lights (yeah, I know they're gone now) - wow man, what were you thinkin five years ago?? 8)
:jk: ;)
