Late model tails on 87?

I have a nice set of late model tails that I could wire up to my 87. All the wires are the same except for the driver's side light it has two blue with white stripped wires in one connection. Will the newer lights just wire up and the extra wire just isin't used?

Not going to fit unless you have the '88+ rear body panel and rear fenders, or plan to do a ton of bodywork.
