Headlight ring colour?

What colour are the rings on the exterior of projector headlights supposed to be?

Mine look like they may have been some sort of shiny metallic colour.

From that video, he paints it black, is that the original colour that has worn off after nearly 30 years?

I painted mine black also. They seemed unpainted.

They are normally chrome. I painted mine to match the body color.

Silver. Roughly the same color as the wheels are painted.

They are actually polished stainless, not chrome. If you do intend to paint them, rough them up very well with sandpaper or else the paint will flake off. I ended up using plastidip because I couldn't get the paint to stick at all and was tired of rock chips.
