ellipsoid lens replacement

I have a lens that is cracked and is taking in moisture. The option I really want to do is replace with some smoked ones but I can't afford them. So I think I need to replace the lens or the hole unit.

How hard is it to change the lens?
How much is the lens and is it even worth changing (compared price to new but used unit)?
Where can I get a replacement lens?

What about that "Mr. Lens" thing...like acrylic lenses? Seems like it was $40/pr or something...

Look for Mikeedler's thread on how to DIY smoked ellips. He has a pretty good description of how to remove and replace lenses. I'd think it would be helpful to you.
