    which witch is whitch

i am a noob and i might as well get flammed now. i have done the search and i read (http://www.danielsternlighting.com/home.html) everything on that page. all i want to know is are there any differences in looks with the light off or are the the differences in the type of light and brightness etc... if someone could post before and afters or break down the differnces between smileys, and euro smilieys and eillipsoids and us smilieys. i am sure this has been talked about many many times but i just can not see any difference with the lights off. flame away thanks

First off your car already has the US ellipsoids .
The black orb in the middle of the low-beams means that it is a "projector" style light , in BMW speak thats the ellipsoids .

The US ellipsoids is already miles ahead of most of the non-HID lights out on the road today .
Your lights use 9006 low and 9005 high bulbs .
You can increase the wattage from 55w stock up to 100w on your lows for increased output , although its safe to stay at 85w .
Or you can install a universal 9006 HID kit to fit your lows , that is pretty much taking the US ellips to their max capabilities .

If you want to join the cool guys with Euro parts you can install (mostly used) the coveted Euro Ellips with the "smiley" .
These light use the H1 bulb for low and high .
Increased wattage bulbs and HID kits are available just like for your US ellipsoids .
The beam pattern and cut-off features make this the best output light available for your e30 .

    Now about the looks :

Heres the standard US sealed beams :

No orbs in the low beams and has curved glass .

US ellipsoids (OE from 88-89 only) :

Same as above but on :

    The Euro Ellipsoid w/smiley :

See the cut-out below the projector (orb) , that is why they are called "smileys" .
The cut-out lest out low level lighting that does not come through the projector .

The Euro lights also have the "city light" feature :

Its a small 5watt bulb mounted high in the lows , most of us wire them with the park lights .

There are also non-smiley Euro ellipsoids which physically look just like the US ellips but use the H1 bulbs ...and the pattern is different .

Then there are also just the regular Euro lights much like in your link , they were stock before the ellips were available and have a flat lens and use H1 lows and H4 lows .

OK dude that about covers it , now how about you start really searching before starting a thread next time .
