    Homemade HID setup

Have any of you crazy kids built your own HID setup out of factory parts from another car? I work in a high end body shop and we are constantly throwing away parts that still good, just cracked or whatever. I could probably round up the parts I need just by looking around, hell I could find all BMW parts I bet. Anyone done this? Or tried? I think I'm gonna try. Just seeing if anyone had any advise. Thanks!

When I first put together my HID kit, I used a set of ballast/ignitors/wiring from an E46. Spliced in the wires and everything worked great. Just had to buy a set of H1 HID bulbs.

The HID setup in my old e30 was factory 4300K D2S HID out of a Mini Cooper S.

I'd just go with the Apexcone HID kit.

first HID kit i had about 4 years ago were D2S offa AMG MBZ, and b.c it doesnt fit exactly, the bulbs eventually worked their way lose and cut through my ellips housing like a light saber.

its 2007, and HID kits can be had for about $160. there is no reason to try and hack up some other models HID's for your car anymore. just get the ones that fit.

                  i'm still running those

i've been trying to retrofit some e46 bixenons into the e30 housing, but it's been forever since i've worked on that.

Well so far I have a complete 07 Escalade headlight assembly and a complete 00 7 series headlight. All Hella Xenon parts. I'm gonna try to make it work this weekend. My time is free :) I won't be selling any parts or kits for those who asked. Sorry!
