    HID aiming

Sorry if this is a re-post, but is it more complicated to aim HID's properly than just adjusting the aiming screws? Also, will the heat from the ignited xenon bulb possibly melt the housing sides closest to the bulb base, or is ths a myth? Thanks!

HID's are cooler than filment bulbs by design. There is no filment in a HID, it's gas that illuminates when charged with current. A filment devolps heat due to it's technically burning in a vacuum.

So no it won't melt your housings, and off note it uses less amperage so your stereo will have more power to draw from.

What greg said. My lenses are cool to the touch after the lights have been on for hours (while my halogen fogs will burn your hand). Its 800 degrees inside the ignition capsule but inside the quartz outer casing is a true vaccumm so heat doesnt transfer every well keeping most of it inside the light. The HID also use so little power that they dont shut off while starting the car (my halogens would before). You WILL however need to jump to a 15amp fuse because they do suck a lot of power when they first fire up.

Aiming is like a regular bulb as long as the bulb placement is correct. I aim my euros about a degree low though because they are truly projectors and just shoot straight out so with it a degree down the main beam hits the ground about 40 yards ahead of me.

HIDs shouldnt change the light pattern, just give you a lot more of it.
      Im now E30less.
