you could remove the bulb in the check panel but I would NOT take it out if I was you. Personally I would rather have everything I can to make sure the stupid drivers out there know you are stoping and turning too. I added e36 repeaters to my fender just cause of that.

I took it off my vert. You can take the bulb out, like ASU said or you can connect the wires and have it turn off also.

The indicator light will be on constantly, because your fuse will be blown and your brake lights won't work.

I did this, but added additional brake lights in the location of the rear fog. It's plenty bright, probably not legal etc. I have had no problems with police who have driven behind me.

There are two easy methods, either relocate the bulb somewhere else, paint it black or something so no light comes from it. Or you can put in a resistor, I chose to use this way so I could keep my housing in tact if I ever want to put it back how it was. I used a 25w6ohm resistor which you can find at any electornics store for a couple bucks. Keep in mind that it will get just as hot as a light bulb, so don't start your car on fire. I mounted mine to the bottom of the rear speaker sheet metal in the trunk with a plastic box. Also needed to up the brake lights fuse from a 7.5 to a 10, the 7.5 would last a few weeks then pop, 10 has been fine for several months and all the wiring does not seem to have suffered.

Heres the connector, I used a spare premium speaker tweeter cover over the hole left in the rear shelf.

Umm..mine isn't. In my vert this is what I did. I cut the wires so I could remove the trunklid and put a coupe lid on. Then i connected the 2 wires and to make it a continous current. Therefore turning the check panel light off.

Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

AlarmedBread, just connect the two green wires together, and tape and isolate the brown ones. Bigger fuse? Scary stuff. Also it just "feels" wasteful to be using that wattage for no real benefit (converting it to heat).
