Starting From Scratch, HID Questions

Both of my Hella H4 Buckets have significant cracks in them which requires me to come up with some type of replacement. I after reading through many posts it seems that the popular choice is to install an HID kit in an ellipsoid and thats that. But since I have no lowbeam buckets at this time I would like to know what my options are.

A specific question I have is can I run an HID bulb in the H4 bucket? It seems that the cutoff may not be appropriate and blind the oncoming traffic. Anyone have experience with this?

I have just this. They aren't bad. The bulbs have reflectors built on to them and are designed to keep the light off the bottom of the reflector, thus keeping it from going up. They do put out more light than a projector into traffic and I would not recommend them given other choices, but it isn't as bad as one may think. I may end up going euro projector or US (if I can't find a non-smiley for a decent price) with HID in the future.
