Nice work, those look good! I converted to LED license plate lights on my other car but since the bracket was severely rusted and crumbled when I touched it I went with a premade LED strip instead. Might have to try this on the E30 as well!::: Present -- '87 325e, '95 525i

I'd love to see a DIY as well. Those look great. I didn't want to buy the replacement LED bulbs either because as expensive as they can get...I've always, ALWAYS had led flickering and failing on me. Especially when exposed to the exterior like the license plate lights.Comment

I actually haven't done the writeup yet because I came out with a v.2 iteration that I will do a writeup for. It's a much more resilient setup and looks 100% less ghetto. Small vero board (circuit board) with LEDs on it rather than the thin flimsy plastic piece with LEDs in it. I'll get on it. :)"A good memory for quotes combined with a poor memory for attribution can lead to a false sense of originality."

i bought the white festoon led bulbs, they work AWESOME put them on my plate lights for awhile and it was a huge difference. a bright white light, not a dull yellow crap. dont like the check panel going on either, need to figure out what resistor to use to fix the problem.Comment

+1, But I might do this with the interior lights.

Sorry guys I had a CPU fan blow on me last week and just got around to getting a new one to replace it today. Will get on it now that I can use the PC again.
Yes it works for interior lights. BTW if you don't have patience... just buy the festoon bulbs. They are far less frustrating :) Here is a few pictars:
