    learned something new everyday:

how many amps? take watts divided by voltage.

i'm sure many here may know this. it's simple electrical thing but i'm not good with it and just learned how to calc the amount of amps needed.

so my 100w bulb divided by 12 volts (pretty standards voltage for cars) = 8.3333333...

Anybody actually check this stuff with a meter? I just undid the relay (which is all those upgrade kits are) and found a 0.9v drop.

But thats not the interesting part.....

I checked charging voltage. It's cold (snowing actually) and the battery is fully charged. Parking lights on (maybe the HID lows too, I forget), 13.5v. Ok, not bad.... Threw the highs on, 12.2v?!?! Goddammit, time to look into an alternator.

Regardless, a 0.9v difference between whats at the lights and charging voltage (that is if you aren't me and have charging voltage) is unacceptable. Add a relay.

Do you have ellipsoids? If so just throw a high-beam bulb in the low-beam socket. Instant upgrade. All you have to do is grind off the little tabs that prevent it from locking into place.

If they're sealed beams, then IDK. These guys seem to have good advice though.

all this doesn't matter anymore. going to drill a hole in the back and put in HID's. 35W draw ftw!

Drill a hole? Why not just get H3 HIDs?

500's aren't deep enough, the backing at least. a 1 inch hole is perfect to put a HID bulb in the 500's. :)

will take pics when i'm done. Dave, you'll like it. trust me! :)

So wait, you're trying to sell us HIDs but you won't buy them yourself? But now you'll buy them for you driving lights, but you also hate them? You, my friend, are so full of shit you you smell like the state you live in.

i see... you're following me. ok, no problem emo-troll-boy; you get paid $0.005 for this from Jim. congrats!! btw, your last 10 posts.... 8 of them was for me. *blush*... you shouldn't have....

after digging around, i found that i can actually add HID's to the 500's. it requires a 1 inch hole to be drilled behind the housing. i'll end up having extra h3 bulbs laying around. not sure what i'll do with them but i'm sure it'll come in handy.

now, i hope you're done being dumb as a box of rocks, it's getting old.

You obviously can't count. I spend a lot of time reading the technical forums and I was curious to see what bullshit you had posted but I found things I could actually help you with in the other two threads. This made no sense on the heels of your HID group buy fiasco so that is exactly what I said. I really have no beef with you expect for that retarded group buy, it made no sense and proved you to be an idiot especially after you related it to Pepsi's secret formula... And you still haven't answered my question, who the fuck is Jim?

I have HIDs in my factory fogs as well as my lows and they're awesome. I only use them in inclement weather though because they really piss off oncoming traffic, even after very careful aiming.
