Yea, I had that problem at first. What happens is that inside the cap, the wires aren't insulated at the terminals. I ended up putting some silicone on it to insulate it. It's been working fine for the last few years.

I the voltage from the ballast will arc through the stock wiring. I even tried some thick rubber insulation and it still arc'd through. You have to use silicon insulated wiring or else it will arc like crazy and probably not ignite. Also the HID capsule on my set up was a little too long and i had to cut a hole in the plastic cap. But still looks pretty factory since my ballast are hidden.

i'd just cut and solder again. It's not like one of those mods you decide you don't like and have to change back. Unless your planning on runnnig 8000k+ bulbs. Those suck big ones.

I see, so you're one of those noobs that I always hear about. Haha just kidding.
    I'm a 37 in lonewolves.

Interesting. I had no idea they are 9006 connectors. I'll clean up my wiring up front, eventually... When I'm not so lazy.

Chris buddy where you been all my life?

Yes, I play Halo. Every day of my waking existence. Though I'm only a 14, I cant move up. I recently started a new account and just played for like 5 hours. I made it to 13 in one sitting. Didnt realize how important K/D radio was lol

Im on Xbox as "scabzzzz" and "Yummy scabs"
    :D

And no I was being serious about the tap in connectors. I guess it sounded assholeish. My bad. And I'm pretty sure its a 9006 connector, considering my E36 had 9006 connectors from the factory and the factory plug just fit right into the ballast. If it doesnt work, I'll get another. They look right though....

Are the connectors on the ballast 9006? They look similar, but are they actual 9006?
I wouldn't use the tap in connectors (I think you were being sarcastic anyway). I use them for the city lights and the turn signals for the euro gear. I would not use them for a high wattage connection though. You'd be much better off soldering the connection.

If you keep both connectors on, you can swap in H1 bulbs if your HIDs burn out. Just tape the H1 connector so it doesn't corrode.

BTW, do you play Halo3? If so, I'm netcsk.

No man I definitely take trips in it. Last weekend I replaced the radiator and with 240k miles, it was the original. It only had minimal seapage from the tanks on the side but still worked :) About 6 months ago, I also took off what appeared to be the original water pump, timing belt, and tensioner. :D

    On topic:
I went to O'Reilleys last night after work. Picked up some 9006 plugs. I think instead of making a a hack job adapter piece, I'm going to just cut off euro connections and splice these in. I could also use some of those tap in connectors like I see in your photos Chris, and have the option of running both right? Isnt that how wiring works?
    :)

Yeah yeah yeah, I don't need your excuses. Save them for the women.
I can understand the DD e30. Although mine has really only had one hiccup in the past couple of years.

Possibly. I told Ely I might be down for some of those meets. The THR folks were talking about driving down to Alabama in the next couple of weeks. So I have a lot of options. Its so hard for me to get out of town man. I work all week long and then I'm ready to chill and work on my car on the weekends. My E30 is my only car right now and you know how that goes. Everything is broke and in need of repair :D

Thanks for your help though. Make sure you remember me in Cashville too!

I would contact some of the websites that sell HID stuff and ask them for the piece that connects the 12v and ground input into Ballast. You could always show them a picture. The HID stuff all uses standard connections, so they should be able to get you one.

Or you can ask them the name of the connector so that you can find one yourself.
The guys at understeer.com may be able to help you.

As far as getting the wires spliced in, you could always solder them at the same spot as you did for your H1 connectors.

As soon as you make it to K-Town, I'll take you up on that beer.
Any chance you're going to make it to the meet up in the Mountains in a couple weeks?

Maybe I could make my own I guess?

I see what you've done clearly through your images. I dont have my early space connector push ons anymore. I cut them off to solder the euro ones on so its set in stone with that unless I could and modify again. Didnt really wanna do that anymore though. :(
The HID kit I have is not really a kit, but more like left over parts. IF I knew what kind of connector that euro connector was, I think I could search a bit better.

This sucks. I thought this shit was going to be plug and play. Grrr... I'm tempted to just get another kit.
Also, the picture I posted was just some random kit I found on google. Its NOT my actual kit.

Thanks for your help Chris. I seriously owe you a beer. :)

Ok. I see what's going on. That connector should be included with your kit and on the other side of that connector, there should be two spade connectors. Those spade connectors will hook into the headlight connector for the car. In your case, you can replace the spade connectors with push pins so that you can use the stock H1 connector. Hopefully these pictures help.

Oh, the bulb is the only thing that controls the color temperature. The ballast has nothing to do with the temperature, so you're fine with the bulbs.

If you're missing the connector/wiring, I'd contact those that sell HIDs and ask if you can buy a couple of them.

Hey Chris... Thanks for helping me. I think I'm just confusing people maybe?

Here is an example of the kind of kit I have. Keep in mind I'm retarded when it comes to wiring. I used to have this HID kit on my E36 with the Umnitza Predator Angel Eye lights so this HID kit was plug and play because of the E36 9006 type connectors. The lights I used on the E36 wouldnt work so I bought some ebay H1 3000k bulbs. Which come to think of it, probably wont work if I have 6000k ballasts ?

Notice the input to the ballast. Its a 9006 (I guess) type connector. The output from the ballast is the red and black squeeze in type connectors. That half is fine. Its the input I'm confused on.

Here is a picture of another set of smilies with euro type connectors. This type of connector reminds me of the connector to a fuel pump assembly or something on my E36.

Sorry I'm such an idiot. Thanks for helping me. I hate asking for it.

Hey bud. Any chance you can take a picture of the connectors?

With my HID kit I had two wires that were simply spade connectors, one hot and one ground. I used these spade connectors to connect to the power and ground of the original sealed beam wiring. Then I bypassed the unloader circuit to keep the low beams on when I switch on my highs.

It sounds like you're saying your HID ballasts are made to plug directly into a 9006 connector? So you're looking for a H1 to 9006 adapter? Yeah, I'm not sure about that one.
