LEDs are off of ebay, resistors and perf board are from a local electronics shop. Good luck :)

I just bought a 90 325i that I will be doing sometime in the next couple of months. LOL that should be fun.

Just an update... everything is still running fine with no issues. No bulb outages or board outages, which is good... means my soldering doesn't suck. Might order a set of tails and do another set.

i bet this would be super easy on early model tails. maybe this can be my summer project. did you use transparent or diffused LEDs?

I used transparent (water clear) lensed LEDs. I don't know if "easy" is the term I would use, but it's not undoable either. It's just really, really tedious and time consuming.

I wish you luck with it, I still can't bring myself to do my 90'

i have no problem with tediously work with smart kits/parts. also, i am self employed so large amounts of time are usually available for tinkering. ive been researching and designing my kit all night (bored) so im pretty pumped. definately ends up being expensive though. how cheap did you find LEDs for? seems to be more expensive than they should be

I have about $140 in LEDs on the tails and another $100 throughout the rest of the car (front turns, sidemarkers, interiors, license plate)

yeah i calculated about 60-70 per tail in parts/materials. think i may go with 10mm LEDs though.

That's what I'm using... except on the turns. On those I used 5mm. LOL that was some fun soldering. But I do like the look of the 5mm ones better than the 10mm too. I might do another set in the future with the 5mm ones for braking/parking lights to see which I like better.

gotcha, couldnt tell in the video. the soldering is really the only set-back to this mod, it seems. i was also thinking of doing a new patterns of the lights, since the sections dont really matter to project the single bulb.

Outstanding job on these. Coming from someone who built cpus for apple, it is very very tedious to do small things... but its doable.

What value resistors did you use?
