brake lights are not woking.. odd

this is odd , in the morning the brake lights warning is on but as soon as i hit the brake pedal it goes off, and the brake lights are all the time on (not when i hit the brake pedal)i suspected the switch but if the switch is not working why in the morning after my first brake hit the brake lights warning goes off???????
any ideas?

are you sure they are on all the time and not just some times, it could be that your brake light swith isnt positioned correctly and is closing the circuit some more than it should be

if it's not positioned correctly the brake lights warning will not go off as soon as i hit the brake in the morning.please help this has got to my nerves.
