    Problem with reverse light

I need help getting my reverse light to work guys. I checked the fuse and the wiring under the shift boot. Both are still good. Also the bulbs are not burnt. I had the reverse light working when I got the car. Took the center console to clean the carpet and when put back the reverse doesn't work. All the other lights work. (turn signal, brake, park) Its a bi*** backing up at night, help a brother out! TIA!

Might have scraped the wire and popped the fuse.

Do you have a testlight or DVM?

The reverse light switch. It's cheap and easy to replace and it's probably old anyway. Just replace it and if that doesn't fix it then start looking elsewhere. A good rule of thumb is to start easy and cheap and work your way up from there,

Pull your shifter boot and test the wires there.

Me thinks the 2 wires indicates that the power lead is +12V.

Guess I'll do that first! Can you replace the switch inside the car? Or you have to get under it?

It's threaded into the side of the tranny so you'll need to be under the car. I believe it's a 22mm socket or so, and be sure to replace the sealing ring also! Once you get under the car it should take about 5 minutes.

If you cut a big hole in the floor you could do it inside the car.

                            OK, OK, just kidding.
