Lamin-x was not made to be protective armor I guess as you assume it was to be. Its to protect from pitting, dis colorization due to sand pitting in glass or plastic, and to hold together if struck by a larger item breaking the glass or plastic lens.

unfortunatly ive had problems with laminex as well. I was driving in the rain one night with my high beams on, I made it home fine.... But as soon as i turned off the ignition i heard a POP!
Went around front to see what the noise was and it was my high beam. Apparently it had cracked due to sudden temperature change. And i think the laminex retained the heat. And had some affect on it cracking.

thats really odd. Lamin-x has gone though extensive testing for this. Ive even seen the 20mil film doubled up on Daytona 24 hour race and not problems what so ever. This product was tested and sold as a race item long before it was released into the public market.

I would bet you experienced a crack or hit somehow and the extra heat produced from the high beam finished the light off.

Its def possible. Im not beating on laminex at all. Their product is top notch and i love the look.
I was just sharing a negative experience ive had with it, The only reason i mentioned it as Laminex's fault is the fact that there is no impact spot. And the lense is cracked completely accross.
