Courtesy lights - Where should I tap for +

To resurrect an old thread, I'm planning on adding some 12v lights to my E30 interior as well, that light up ONLY when the doors are open. Where's the best/most convenient place to tap power from?

I'm not too excited about trying to thread wire from the dome lights down to the door and messing with the headliner and etc. (I'm likely to place the lights somewhere down low, near the door kick panels or etc)

But if I have to, what's the best way to go about it?

doesn't the door chime have a constant power source? that'd be easy enough for the driver side if it were true.

Old thread or not but no one seems to have much to add, well I think we need Dave, Luke or George to step into this. Of course there is juice by the antenna, rear lights etc. So any one out with some smart idea please feel free.
