Honestly I'm not going to argue with you here in this thread.

I am currently using a set of CibiƩ headlamps that used to be on my brother's E28.

My car had standard parts-store sealed beam bulbs in the brackets. Any lights designed to replace a sealed beam should fit in there. Considering how many people I've heard of using the Hella H4/H1 bulbs with no problem, I can't see how there would be any significant differencees. Ellipsoid buckets are a different story.Leave a comment:

This thread could become a headlight thread? I like having Official threads, kinda like the BBS and Recaro ones I made that seem to be successes.
The E30 has endless amounts of options for customizing. Its awesome. Glad I got one.....although my other much more expensive car and motorcycle have been neglected now, but I'm sorta on my honeymoon phase with the E30 so we're spending a lot of time together.+1, people don't get that. I love custom type stuff and retrofits. I told the dude at radioshack that I wanted to make LED turn signals, and asked if he knew anything about circuit boards, he did, but all I got was a lecture on how I should just buy those premade LED bulb things
I don't remember asking for your opinion...Leave a comment:

oh yeah, very tight. Lights are still thicker, and sealed beam ring holds it in perfect.
Damn it, I have no pics on this computer of them in. I'll take pics tomorrow.
My last problem was not having all 4 lights on at the same time. And when i first wired them in, if I turned high beams on, my passenger side would light up, both lights, but driver side would go out. not sure how, but it fixed itself after I turned lights on and off a few times.Leave a comment:

I never thought of cutting of the tabs, I just cut new notches in the buckets. Are they nice and tight in the buckets with no tabs?Interesting topic, I got early e34 "NFL" lights. They are very much like Hella's except actually hold 9005 and 9006 bulbs. I had to cut off mounting points on the lights, then they fit into sealed beam buckets perfectly. I'll find pics this week, and modification pics (if they are not on my broken laptop). They are bright as hell, like having 4 ellipsoid high beams.Leave a comment:

No they're not. They all have different mounting tabs, all 5.75" lights do not line up perfectly in e30 buckets, nor in vw buckets.Leave a comment:

Well obviously yes I am a moron.
Excuse my ignorance.Leave a comment:

No, you're a moron. Anything that's designed to fit a standard 5.75" sealed beam frame (like, say, any H4/H1 light sets) will fit the sealed beam frames for an E30. The alignment points on the back are exactly the same.Leave a comment:
