I just purchased a set of Euro "smiley" lights for my 88' 325ix and am trying to figure out which bulbs I need, they look like an H1 but I dont think that is bright enough as a driving light. Any ideas?:???:

Depends on where you drive, IMHO. I have 55w Hella Yellowstars in my projectors and 100w Hellas in my highs. 55w is just fine for the low beams. I went with the 100w highs because I was replacing four 55w filaments on high from my stock sealed beam lighting with only one high beam per side. With the design of the reflector, 55w bulbs would have probably been acceptable as high beams, though.
I've seen a bit of idioticy in an old thread here that 100w bulbs for the high beams would require heavier wiring due to the increased current load. As the stock Euro light configuration is high on/low off, instead of lighting all four at the same time, 100w bulbs use just about the same amount of power as the stock sealed-beam high setup. I haven't blown a fuse or shown signs of wire damage at all.Last edited by Sam Cogley; 10-01-2008, 07:14 AM.Comment
