    foglight problems

91 325i, front drivers side fog light turns off all the time. When i get out of the car and pull up on the wiring it comes back on and will stay on for about 20 minutes of driving and turns off again.

the wiring looks fine, any suggestions?

Pull the foglight out of the car and pull the bulb access cover off of the bottom of it. the plate that the bulb base sits on plugs in to one end of the connector on the inside of the foglight. Clean up the joint with a dremel and solder it together. You will need a reletively powerful soldering iron.

For some reason that plate comes loose very easily. I've had multiple foglights with the same problem. If that isn't it, it's a free, easy fix, so no harm done. That would, however, probably indicate a short or bad connection in the car-side harness.

another problem i picked up with the fog lights is a bad connection from the cars harness to the foglight. The way i resolved the problem was to make a new plug with some lugs and some glue, crimp the lugs with wires on them onto the pins of the foglight, then fill the gaps around the lugs with some hot glue....
