    Tailight repair

I recently introduced one of my friends into the world of E30s. We went out of town and picked up a 318 for him. It's pretty much in full working condition, the only beef I had with it was the taillights. One of them was cracked and it had red duct tape covering the exposed area? (WTF mate ) So I go to removed the duct tape and it leaves some mean excess adhesive.

He bought some taillight repair kit in the meantime and wants to repair them. But first the adhesive on the taillight has to go. Anyone know of a easy way to get the adhesive off?

Acetone or goof-off should do the trick.

You know that used tails in good condition can be had for $30 or so, right? BTW I'd try the goo-gone first, because acetone fogged the lense on mine slightly. It polished right out, though.

Even WD-40 will remove adhesive, but I like the 3M General Purpose Adhesive Removal, for this or even wax/grease/tar removal.
