ellipsoid vent question

i have searched and couldn't find anything.
so i just bought a pair of ellipsoid from a local friend and i was wondering what this vent thingy connects too.

Run it as you see it. It doesnt connect to anything, it just sits like that.

Mine always seems to let in moisture so I'm going to seal it off. I noticed ecode housings don't have a vent.
