Rear tail light not working

Had this issue once with one of my previous cars. The wiring loom was rubbing in a point in the trunk and causing the light not to come on. I shifted the loom over and rewrapped it in electrical tape.

my right side front turn signal doesnt light up at night along with the entire rear tailight unit. The rear brakes work and turn signals work but the running lights dont. Do you think this is switch related, I checked fuse 23 and its fine

Double check the fuse; sometimes they look fine but they aren't -swap it out and check again. You might also want to change the front signal bulb as it is a double element and sometimes one of the goes out. Always start from the simplest and most cost effective way. Fuse, bulb and then wiring, then relays if be. etc.

Seeking advise.

Eurospec, 83 323i. Signals, federalized sidemarkers, brake, rear fog, and reverse lights work, everything up front works, but I've got no rear running lights. Bulbs look good, cleaned connectors, cleaned and di-electric grease on base/housings, checked connectors. Still nothing. Fuse 22 and 23 good. I keep getting the check light for lights though. Any suggestions?

I'm glad its not his front tail light that wasn't working. He'd still be trying to fix that bitch two years later!

EDIT: I tried the age old smack it and see what happens. Lights came on, Looks like I just need to adjust the bulb housings/connectors.

bumping this thread because i had a very similar issue. the front parking, rear running, license plate, and interior lights all went out at the same time. i immediately placed the blame on the new LED license plate lights i installed. however, replacing them with the factory bulbs didn't fix the problem. i then checked each fuse strip individually and saw no broken circuits. i read this thread and decided to tear into the dash and check the light switch. i checked both the grey/black and grey/yellow with my test light, but both of them still had power! now i decided to check the fuses again. 22 and 23 both lit up with my test light! i decided to pull them just in case, and sure enough, 23 was the culprit. needless to say i was super pissed i just spent the last hour fixing a problem that shouldn't have been overlooked to begin with! i just always thought when a fuse blew the metal wire would break, and certainly not light up when checked with a test light!
