on an 87 how do i remove it? i've been tugging on the thing for the last hour about ready to break the thing off! i cant find directions anywhere including my bentley manual... anyone have any idea how to get this brick out of my window??

From what I remember, on my '88 (same light, I think) you have to pull the back cover off first. This comes out at an angle going up towards the ceiling. Disconnect the wiring harness from the bulb holder. After that, there is a little tab on the bottom of the light holder you need to lift, and slide the light holder straight back. Finally, remove the 2 screws to take it off the parcel shelf.

You sure? Mine has the light box that sits on top of the rear parcel shelf. It's not the one that is covered up.Comment

I believe mine was under the parcel shelf, but that was about a year ago when I removed it and put an early shelf in.
I am gonna do something different with my 3rd brake light. As when the stereo gets done it would destroy a 3rd brake light bulb in seconds in the stock location.-Andy
