I was just wondering....Upgrading to 9005 in the US ellips lows is supposed to help a kot...w/ HID would a 9005 be any brighter/better than a 9006? if the 9005 woud still be better it would be cool if they made the HID 9005 bulb fit into a 9006 housing w/out moddifications :)

Here is a pic of a E46/TT Single Xenon Projector modded into a E30 headlamp, from the front you cant tell the difference as the E30 has the same size of lense, but as you can see from the shot the light spread is very good. Infact i could not fit it into the frame of the pic when i was taking it.



As you can see there is no glare above the cut off and there are no hotspots most of the light is very even.

I must get a better pic of the output.

I hope the owner of that pic above doesn’t mind me using it to show the difference of the new generation of projectors VS the stock E30 ones.

And i have a suspicion that the projector used on the car in the pic above is a US ellipsoid.

That's pretty cool, now do can you still use H1 w/ the e46 ellipsoids?

Wouldn't mind seeing some pictures of the insides of those lows to see what you actually swapped.

I bought new E46/TT Bosch Xenon projectors from the US, the projector is much smaller than the Bosch Euro Smilie one we have here, so the E46/TT Projector sits really well in the headlamp, then i made up a back cover which resembles something like the old E30 projector and works in the same way, three screws secure it to the outer part of the headlamp. I have also fitted headlamp wash/wipe and electronic levelling. This is not a cheap kit off ebay, I used the electrical parts like the ballast and igniters from the E46 M3 and Osram 4100k bulbs.



I have installed a few of these now in the UK for other E30/E34 owners.

OK i know this is a simple question

YI see many people have 2 hid kits some in fogs and some in low beams.... I hearing rumors that you need something else on your car or you start metlting wiring or something ... WHO has two hids kits and any problems? i am looking to do similar what the Thread starter has dont.. LEt me know thanks
ANd umm will you still be able to see the Turnsignals after both kits
