e34 euro smilies in an e30

i bought a set of e34 euro smilies off of egay, and wanted to know the easiest way to retrofit them in my e30 headlight "buckets". i already have us ellips, but the tabs on the smilies stick out much farther than the ellips i have now, and the "citylight" connector sticks out and hits the headlight bucket.

i already searched, but couldn't really find what i was looking for.

E34 lights don't fit the e30. You will need to do some fabrication to get it to fit.

that's pretty much what i figured. would it be possible to cut the tabs off the smilies, and plastic weld new tabs on to make it fit? or would it be easier to just make a custom bracket?

I'm going to guess custom bracket, but I have never tried it myself. The only real difficulty with a custom bracket is that you have to design in a way to adjust headlight alignment.

why dont you just sell them and buy the correct lights- rather than hack up a nice set of e34 lights- the e34 guys love euro ellips too.

haha didn't realize those were elips. Yeah, you should probably sell those and get some of the right lights. E34 elips are fairly hard to come by compared to e30 ones, at least as far as I can tell.

Ebay and the classifieds here mainly. If you want new ones, I think abrahamsmotorsport.com can source them, but don't quote me on that. Be careful with Ebay, because the DEPO replica smileys aren't particularly good quality. Expect to pay around $200 for a set of used OE ones.

                    Turner sells them for less.
