maplight -- what's with the threaded "nipple"?

OK, I'm lazy and haven't searched, a thousand apologies.

I got a maplight from one of our colleagues, and it has the wiring and all the goodies ... but the arm that holds the mirror, just after leaving the overhead housing, has a threaded nub (I used "nipple" in the title to get attention).

What's that for? it's not in the way, but it looks unfinished.

Is there supposed to be some stabilizer or something that threads on to it, in order to keep pressure against the windshield.... to minimize vibration?

    Thanks in advance.

that is exactly what it is for, thread it all the way until it presses against the windshield.

      Thanks!

do you have one of the bits that thread on to the mirror arm? Right now, I've just got the "male" part of the threading sticking there.

damn you're missing the mirror's vagina? You'll have a hard time getting one.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.
