Whining noise and distorted CD sound quality

Whenever I try to play a CD the sound is all muffled/distorted as in you can't even make out what song it is. Also there is a horrible whining noise that get's worse as you accelerate/turn up the volume. Radio works fine and there is no noises when using it.

Still happening huh? I'll ask my buddies and see if they know anything. Isn't it pretty unpredictable too? It worked all of a sudden that one time, then shitted out on you out of no where.

That's your head unit going bad, probably from a broken internal ground.

The whining noise you hear is alternator noise. Check all your grounds.

Yea and it would come back but now it's done for good. and what kronus said makes sense, probably fucked it up going over all those bumps on the drive I guess it was time for an upgrade anyways.

And I don't know anything about electrics. What do I need to check the grounds?
