Stock headunit output signal and amp questions

    Hello,
I am in the process of working out my stereo system and have a couple questions.

First off is a list of the parts I am planning on running.

C33 tape deck / radio from an e36
    ADS P440 amp (4 channel
Infinity Kappa 50.9 components for the front.

I am still undecided on the rear stage / sub as I am not a big bass fellow, so I may just hold off on that for a while.

    Question 1:
Does anyone know the output signal properties for the C33? For example can I run the output directly to the amp or will I need a signal processor?

Question 2: Any opinions on the Infinitys? I have installed a number of infinity speakers in the past (both reference and kappas) and have been quite pleased with the sound quality.

    TIA.

Will, let me explain something right now regarding ANYTHING in the electronics industries:
Throw your experience out the fucking window.

There is this big fucking country to the east of us called "China", and they have mode it so you cannot trust ANY manufacturer.

What you had in the past, and liked or disliked, has no bearing on what you can buy today, and whether or not you like it. The only thing those speakers have in common with my 20 year old Kappas ("Made in the USA", haven't seen that in a while!) is the brand name.

Unless you are a fucking sheep and like something because of the pretty lights or some shit. That is exactly what ALL of the major manufacturers count on, you know. Ha! This dewd bought Alpine back in '97, he likely will again, lets make it look the same!

Can you tell I don't like most electronics manufacturers? Sorry for the rant.

In general, this years Infinitys don't suck (except the retarded tweeter mounts, but you won't use those) and sound OK, if a bit bright.

Output of the CD33 is pretty simple, and I have answered this question about 33 times...simply solder RCAs on using only the speaker POSITIVE, then use chassis ground for the shield...this makes a nice clean, high level, good sounding output.

IF that deck came from an '92~'93 E36 318, you may have some signal issues with too high a voltage, but who would have bought a base model car and spent the dough on a CD player back in 1992?

    GL!
    Luke

Thanks. The amp does not have high level inputs (to my knowledge), so you are saying run direct to the standard amp inputs, correct? The deck is not the CD33, but the C33 if it matters.

As for the electronics industry... I am well aware of how branding, works which is why I was asking about these speakers specifically. I am not set on these, so other options are appreciated.

Yeah, the C33 is the same...normal low level (high impedance) outputs, but like 9V, so watch your gain settings.

Good to hear you are hip to the chinese invasion. The Infinitys are fine, but personally I think a small 4 channel amp and a small 2 channel amp combined with a single 10 in one of my boxes sounds terrific, especially with a set of decent condition premium sound speakers. In fact, I wish everyone could hear JParkers setup...tiny little 4 channel, half on bass, half on the front mids/highs, with deck power on the rears...the damn thing sounds terrific. Nice and balanced, plenty of BOOM if you wanna bust out the rap crap, or nice clean bottom end if you just wanna hear it sound good!

I suppose it depends on your goals. Personally, I think the idea is to be able to crank it up on the freeway with the windows down or still hear music when it is turned down enough to hold a conversation...and sound great at either extreme.

Great to know. Thanks a ton. When I do go the sub route you will be the box maker!

Ok, after looking over the amp, it has two options for input. One is standard 1-4 channel RCA, the second is via a mini-DIN for OEM Radio Input. Which is a better option with the C33?
