I never cared too much about having a radio in my M3, so I just removed the radio a long time ago. The engine's sound has proven for 15 years to be enough. But now I am getting softer and need some music for the long journeys to track events. So, I bought a Pionner DEH-5100UB with CD and two iPod USB inputs. I am about ready to install it in my m3 which came equipped with the OEM power amp in the trunk over the driverside wheel well.
So, in my center console I have the 4 sets of twisted wires (speaker wires) that go to the power amp. From the power amp, colours change and go to each speakers.
I don't think I need to reuse the OEM power amp as the Pionner radio probably sound better than the 20 year old Blaupunkt. Basically, the question is how do I wire the speakers?
a) new wiring throughout the car.
b) splice the wires in the trunk (which will make very long wires).
