I just picked up a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X693 for my wife's E36 as it had nothing and will be buying another for my e30 as soon as I have the time to pick one up.
$199 for the deck....... USB (ipod or flash), rear AUX in, very big display, and the illumination is fully adjustable. You can choose one of their presets or adjust the RGB levels to your liking. In addition you can have the display and buttons different colors if you want.
It does stick out like most aftermarket decks...fits great in an e36. I will have pics of it in an e30 next week more than likly.
There is also a step up that comes with bluetooth.
