Help! Luke! Installed Alpine, no sound from ipod.

So I bought one of those new uber uber hot iPod playing headunits from Best Buy for my early model E36. Its this one:

I hooked up everything, all is looking good, got my amp channels hooked up for front and rear. All wires go to the correct corresponding wire for the chassis harness plug..
I fire up the headunit, radio works great. All speakers work.
Plug the ipod in via the USB cable (came with a little ipod usb adapter cable too) and I get no sound. I can browse the ipod through the head unit just fine, and the Alpine logo displays on my ipod.
What gives? I double checked my wiring and connections, all is good.
I didnt install the amp, I bought the car with it professionally installed in the trunk. As far as I can tell, all speakers are stockish..
I dont know much about stereo shit but I've never had a problem hooking up my subs and amps and steroes and stuff.

    Thanks guy

Sounds like a setting issue with the headunit.

Volume on the ipod? I've done, thats the only reason i'm suggesting it...

        Forgive me while I laugh:

        BAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHAHABABAAAHAHHAHAH

        OK, sorry.

You have committed one of the very dumbest of installer mistakes. Everyone has done it, so don't feel special...no big deal. Takes 10 seconds to fix.

You used "Power Antenna Remote" (blue) instead of "Amp Remote" (blue/white).

        Go fix your shit.

Ive tried updating the iPod, and browsing through every setting possible on the headunit.

I guess I'll go home and try this out Luke.

            Thanks

I still don't get what the Amp has to do with the Ipod. The tuner works and outputs sound so the deck clearly works, but the Ipod issue could be the cable or the deck itself.

If you do not hook up the "power on" wire to the amp, it will never turn on and thus no sound.

^^^^^Amp will only power when the radio is selected.

Yes, if he has the amp turn on with the power antenna wire, it will only turn on when the radio is on. When the HU is in Ipod mode, the antenna stays down.
