im tired of not having CC

i got a 1987 eta 5spd, no at to manual swap. but i dont have cruise control. i have read that the 318 is the only one that needs modification when putting the cc brain in. I want cruise control on my car would there be any trouble if i get all the parts? and would i have to mess with the wiring to get it to work?
    help greatly appreciated.

and to think my first upgrade is to remove that useless feature. Even on my cross country trips, I found it useless.

I have been reading a little here and there about cruise, but I haven't found anyone that has posted an exact parts list of what I would need of a donor car. If I could find that then I would be in a lot better shape.

I <3 my cruise. I added it to my eta a few years ago.

            You need:
clutch switch and clutch switch bracket (attaches to the brake pedal bracket).
The servo unit in the engine compartment (moves the throttle).
            The cruise control brain.
The wiring harness to connect it all together.

It is a simple swap if you have everything. You'll need to run the wire for the servo unit through the firewall, but there are knock-out plugs on the drivers side that come out by the brake booster/fuse box just for this.

I have heard there are different clutch switch brackets between early and late and that the early models are much easier to get to (I have an early one). I have no idea about the cut-off date, but a RealOEM search should show that.

i have read a couple of posts saying that cc was optional on e's and i's and that they have all the plugs there, the only one that needs all the modifiying is the 318, is this true?
also there are a bunch of 5 series and 7 series at the junkyard. would the computer and servo unit work from them.

I just realized...my cruise control never worked, ever since i bought the car. And after seeing this thread, it hit me: I've also never had to push the clutch in to start the car.

Hopefully a clutch switch would fix the CC problem.

All e30's don't need the clutch in to start the car. The clutch switch is only a switch for the CC system. When you push the clutch in, the switch opens and turns the cc off. Its also the stop/rest for the clutch pedal.
