Ported Box Volume (cubic feet) 1
    Port diameter (inches) 3
    Port length (inches) 10.4
    Free-Air Yes
    Dual Voice Coil Yes
Sensitivity 94 dB at 2.83 volts
    Frequency Response 18 - 200 Hz
    RMS Power Range (Watts) 75-350
    Peak Power Handling (Watts) 1400
Top Mount Depth (inches) 5 3/4
Bottom Mount Depth (inches) 6 7/16

        treo tsi 12" (200rms)
        or idq? 12"(350rms)
a300.2 probably puts out close to 350rms
yal decide...remember looking for sq in a luke style box
        ...im feeling idq it seems

So for the idq12v2d2 they suggest a large ported box at 1.5 cu/ft tuned to 28 hz with one 3"x13.75" port

I believe that the v1 sub boxes for 12" were 2 cu/ft so i calculated a ported box this size tuned to 30hz and came up with 2-18.8" ports or 1-8.3" ports all at 3" diamater.
This seemed to give a slightly flatter response. This is all using:

these calculators are pretty awesome. Going to seal woofer to cabin and run port tube up through the rear deck.

I don't know too much about this stuff. If yal could give me your opinions on box size/number of ports/port diamater that would be awesome.

Also if i remember the acoustics are pretty screwy in an e30 so what should i be looking for a tunning frequency with this woofer and an e30?

          Any help appreciated as allways

Do the number of ports/ port size really make a differance i.e. I figure the box will proably end up 2.0 c/ft for linear response. If i tuned it to 30hz for both 2.0 and a 2.5 c/ft box the 2.5 has a little peak then dip as opposed to the 2.0c/ft box for a 12" idq v2. if i was to go with 2-3" ports vs 2-4" vs 1-4" vs say 1-5" would there be a differance in sq/spl?

Sorry for all the questions i am just trying to get everything right.

Right there is the main reason I do the boxes the way I do...after much design, several builds, years of working on different setups, the single 12 makes the best compromise of size/space/fitment/SQ and SPL in my opinion.

I just gotta find a way to build them lighter!

I have a new woofer coming soon, it weighs about 9 pounds. Neodymium magnet, about 800RMS power handling, great looks...but expensive-ish, about $325 for R3V guys.

The damn box still weighs 45 pounds though.

Might try 1/2" MDF with LOTS of braces, but then we get into cost/time factors that make things prohibitive for R3V guys. I would like to be able to do a big fat output for a total weight of 50 pounds...2 amps, single 12, box, front speakers...everything.

                    Time will tell though, right?

                    Closing SOON!

I guess lol. I am going to just go with the idq though for now i guess. People for the most part seem to like them and my amp will push it to its rms max.
