i replaced my stock tweeters with a pair of Alpine silk dome tweeters yesterday. when i fired it up it was like i lost the highs in the fron to fthe car. i though crap they are blown, but when i put my ear to them i can hear the highs.
i have always liked the sound of silk dome tweeters VS titainium or plastic, because it is a little mellower, but WTF happened. are the stock tweeters just louder because that have more surface area and less dome? the cross over is the same as before, just a different pair of tweeters.
on the Alpines the dome is almost the size of the tweeter itself, but the magnet is alot smaller (although it is strongtium (sp) and they are ferro fluid cooled). i had the bass, trebble flat at zero before and i bumped it up a little, but when i tried to fade it to the front a little extra and it didn't really help becuase the drivers in the front just got louder too. should i just put the stock tweeters back?
look for some with bigger magnets?
get some with bigger magnets and a titianium dome?
turn up the gains on the front channel of the amp to make up?
