be aware that without the "imprint" module, some of the features of the 9887 stay locked. For the reason I recently (last week) picked up the 9886. I lose the medianxpander in favor of the bassengine, but at least i'll be able to adjust my bass & treble when I feel like it. It has fewer EQ bands too, but i gained the USB port which sounds like a feature I'll probably use a lot. It also doesn't have some of the illumination color options. I used to spend mad cash on top of the line alpine decks back in 2001/2/3, but pretty much gave up on that. I was extremely disappointed this shopping-go-round to find out alpine requires another $200+ module to unlock the features of its top of the line deck. How times have changed...

Sounds like you got a good system brewing, lets see some pics of the components.

Post 5 was seriously the most helpful thing I have ever read. I'm using a cd43 with it though.

Thanks for the post. I am planning on using the imprint module so I think I will maintain control over the audio. No?

I picked up an infinity kappa 10" sub with the selectable 2-8 ohm. After talking with Luke about the best sub to use, this is the one he suggested.

As it sits, everything is ordered. The alpine 9887, alpine BT, apline sirrius, 2 sets of kappa component perfects, kappa sub and the kappa amp. I also ordered the sub box from Luke, which I am very excited to see and install!

I need to order an amp kit, rca's and speaker wire now. I am in Iraq so I ma havign all th ecar parts and stereo parts sent to my buddies house. When they arrive I have will have blast off some pictures.

I want to send a big thanks to Luke for helping me with my stereo system!

It's always a shock when the wiring ends up costing more than the head unit. Good luck with the install. Post some pics when you can.
