8's in door. Should I cut the door?

If I put an 8" sub (RE8) in each door panel, what would you guys think of cutting the door panel? I really want to keep this car until it dies. It is my first car and isnt worth much at all, so I dont think it is worth ever sellling it. I just dont want to mess up the door panels. Would 8's in the doors be ok? Does anybody know how much room I have behind the door panel to the window? I want the window to go all the way down. I have a 1987 325 with power windows.

There's not much room behind the panel before hitting the glass, I would suggest making an enclosure that fits where the map pockets are such as in this post:http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11515

You can then cut an opening in the panel behind that to allow the doors cavity to be used for more air space. BUT, I would highly advise Dynamating the inside of the entire door, also don't cut the center support bracing seen in the pic below, it is what supports the power window motor. Other than that just make sure it is sealed up and sound deadened and it should work fine.

          Says the resident bass-head.

8"s in the doors would be awesome if you could control them with an active crossover. Have them play from 90-200Hz, and you'd have some solid mid-bass from the front stage. It'd be lame-o if you put them up there on just a 80Hz low-pass though, or dare i say full range...

Doors are already deadened with about 2 layers. Problem with the map pocket is I cant get enough depth out of them to fit any 8's. I would only need about 2.5 inches or so behind the panel. And IMO it isnt pointless at all. 8's up front will clear up almost ALLL my trunk space, so this would be more practical. It would also improve the "up-front" bass feel. I want my bass to blend with the rest of the music, not be really friggin loud and be heard 8 miles away. IMO the bass shouldnt stick out. It should barely be noticable, if at all. Why would it be "lame-o" if they were up there just for subbass and midbass? I would have them from about 200Hz on down just like subs and midbasses. I dont see why that would be lame-o.

2 8's in the trunk would take up very little room, are you going to be puttin a lot of big things in your trunk on a regular basis? Im just not a big fan of e30 doors filled with big speakers, some people have 3 in the doors I think it looks out of place.
