Any one cut holes in back seat for subwoofer

What i mean is has anybody put a port or some opening in there vinyl back seat in order for more sound to come through. I thought about adding a cloth panel and cutting out a section of my vinyl back seat in order for more sq and boom boom. If anybody has done something like this please post pics.

    Thanks as allways,

Zach, why not just find a fold down rear seat?

It really helps to cut a couple of inches of foam out, too.

Andy (DashboardMonkey) has cut a big hole in his, we are gonna make a frame of MDF and upholster it, something that can slide in and make a "tunnel" for the boom boom.

      Closing SOON!

^That's my build thread. If you are going to port through the rear seat, seal off the box from the rest of the trunk. Like Luke's boxes, you'll get 100% of the bass into the cabin and 100% less trunk rattle.

I second Luke's idea of a fold down seat if possible. I've been looking for one for a while now though and haven't had any luck.

I was thinking of doing a very similar setup. This or building a frame with grill cloth stratched over it and putting it in a hole in the back seat.

I'm working on a box based on Schnitzers design. for my 10" Type R. Everything will be running through the fold down armrest for the ski hole. Although I want to hide the amp so the rack will be against the firewall.

Hey Schnitzer, what hinges did you use for the floor and are they mounted under the amp cover?

Lemme ask this newbie question...Do you have the face of the woofer in the "ski-pass" hole OR the port?

                  i know, dumb question.
I currently have the woofer facing through the hole.

I have the face of the subwoofer facing into the cabin through where the ski pass is. I sealed the box off around it so that no air escapes into the trunk. Eliminates trunk rattles and you gain a good amount of db and clarity.

I used those really long/thin hinges available at home depot. You just have to cut them down to size with a dremel, hacksaw, or other metal cutting tool. They disappear under the carpet and are perfect for the application.

                      on WHOSE design?

I highly recommend making sure that 100% of the energy from the box gets into the car.

If you are only doing a 10, even a Type R, you can do 2) 3" ports and the woofer all in the ski passtrough, with a tiny bit of metal cutting.

How do I know? I have done 2 special "Type R" boxes. Ask Rennsport to post a pic of his...300W on a single type R...fucking thing is LOUD!
