passenger sid window not working, but it worked last week?

Okay so I know this is just the way of the beast when it comes to E30's, but I am having an electrical issue. I cannot operate my passenger side window. It worked last week, or maybe the week prior. This a project car, so I have been working on a few things lately that may have affected this:

• popped both driver & passenger door panels off to replace map pockets
• replaced handbrake section of center console
• cleaned entire dash area, some solvent may have gotten into a switch

The driver's side window works just fine. The window locking button is the one I am afraid may have gotten some cleaning solution into it.

Should I consider hooking up a multi tester to the terminals on the passenger side window switch?

I don't know much about these cars, but i cannot imagine a blown fuse that would only affect one window.

switch out the switches (passenger to driver etc.) to eliminate them.

Sometimes the window motors like to seize up for no apparent reason. Once you eliminate the switches, try taking a mallet and knocking the window motor once or twice. Not too hard, you don't want to break it, but sometimes that will free up the gears.

Okay I eliminated the switches, they both work fine.

Okay it's fixed. I could hear the window motor trying if I put my ear up to it, so I gave it a few whacks while holding the button, and eventually it started working again. Let's see how long it lasts :)

What is happening here is that the regulator is worn out, so the worm gear is binding.

Either plan on swapping to late model regulators and motors ('88 is early style) or replacing your regulators.

Actually I am choosing Plan C, which is to sell the car :(

This particular E30 was just a fix-and-sell project car for me, so I am glad i will be able to sell it with a "currently" working passenger window.
